International Volunteer Manager’s Day

November 5th has been recognized as International Volunteer Manager’s Day, a day to celebrate the professionals who lead our most precious resource – our volunteers! The theme this year is “Many Backgrounds – One Profession – Stronger Together”.

Amanda LapriseWe’d like to recognize our very own Manager, Volunteer Recruitment and Engagement, Amanda Laprise, who began her career with Habitat Niagara in July 2022.

As with many professionals in this role, Amanda has a diverse skill set which includes, over ten years of experience in marketing and communications, government and community relations and most recently conference and event services. Additionally, Amanda recently received her Bachelor of Education degree in Adult Education where she also studied project management and conflict resolution.

Amanda is passionate about ensuring a volunteer’s work is fulfilling and rewarding to them and Habitat Niagara and takes great pride in seeking out their skills and passions and aligning them with the organization.

Here’s what some of our volunteers had to say about her:

“Amanda is lovely, she’s always upbeat and positive and shows a genuine concern for volunteers.” Jeri Dehghani, St. Catharines ReStore volunteer (who was recognized by Habitat Canada this year). “Amanda is love

“Amanda has such a friendly personality that puts people at ease. She is genuinely interested in what is happening with volunteers at Habitat. She is looking for new ways and events to get volunteers involved.” Dave Drew, Grimsby ReStore and Construction volunteer.

Intelligence, hard work, and experience all make Amanda a good volunteer manager. But what makes her EXCELLENT is her warm emotional wisdom and intelligence and obvious love for people.” Syl Gerritsma, St. Catharines ReStore volunteer.

“We have such wonderful volunteers at Habitat Niagara. It has been great to learn more about them and their backgrounds,” said Amanda. “Volunteers are our greatest resource. We could not function without our volunteers!”

Happy International Volunteer Manager’s Day Amanda!
