“I’ve always felt the value of giving back to the community,” said Jason Gautier, President of Evans Heating and Cooling.
Jason thought that giving back was best done quietly, however a friend shared with him that people like to see good work being done in the community, especially by local businesses, as it inspires others to do the same – so Jason and his team launched the Evans Cares campaign.
Evans Cares started in 2020 with the idea that the public ‘like’ one of the three different charitable organizations selected by the Evans team during the month-long campaign. The charity with the most ‘likes’ wins $2,000, second place gets $750 and third place $500. For each campaign Evans donates $3,250 to the selected charitable organizations, and to date, Evans has given $13,000 to local charities.
This year, Habitat for Humanity was selected to run in the campaign and came in second place receiving a $750 donation from Evans Heating and Cooling that will go toward building Habitat homes. In first place was Hospice Niagara and third place was Niagara Women’s Enterprise Centre.
“People like to do business with companies who give back to the community,” said Mark Carl, Habitat Niagara’s CEO. “Evans Cares is a unique campaign that not only connects the organization with their community, but it also helps to grow their business and gets the community involved in choosing their favourite charity.”
