COVID-19 Update: A message from Habitat Niagara's CEO

I know that the growing concern around the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has everyone feeling uneasy, especially as we face more changes to our daily routines and future plans.

As we all continue to pay close attention to the Coronavirus, I wanted to share with you an update on Habitat for Humanity Niagara’s actions to date and our commitment to you.

The health and well-being of our customers, staff, volunteers, donors and surrounding community is our top priority. While we are always committed to providing safe shopping experiences at our ReStores, I want to assure you that we are taking the following precautionary steps to ensure our stores remain a safe and healthy place:

  • We are closely following the guidance from the World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Public Health Agency of Canada protocols.
  • We have enhanced our existing hygiene and health practices, including frequent and additional cleaning and disinfecting throughout our stores and office - in particular high-touch areas.
  • We have provided procedural information to our employees and volunteers who are practicing social distancing, increasing hand washing, and staying home should they feel ill.
  • We have suspended face-to-face meetings and our salvage operations until further notice.

As we continue to closely monitor the situation, and take proactive and preventative measures, our three Niagara ReStores and office remain open for business - and we thank you for your support.

Just like you, we are doing the best that we can to navigate these uncertain times. As the situation continues to evolve, so too will our response. We will continue to be proactive in our efforts to ensure the safety of all who assist us in our mission. We would like to thank the entire Habitat Niagara community – our employees, volunteers, customers, donors and community partners for supporting each other during this time.
