Bird Houses helping to build Habitat homes

Buy a bird house - build a Habitat home!

Local Fonthill resident, Paul Ryan, has been busy building over 400 bird houses for Habitat for Humanity Niagara’s ReStores to sell as a fundraiser, with proceeds going toward building homes in Port Colborne and Welland this year.

“I’ve got to do something because I wasn’t ready to retire,” Paul explains. “I have always donated my time and helped a variety of local service clubs and charities. I feel strongly about Habitat for Humanity, homeowners put in time and it’s not a ‘hand out, it’s a hand up.”

Paul has been sharing his talents with us since 2017, hand crafting hundreds of birdhouses to be sold in Niagara Habitat for Humanity ReStores. Sales from the birdhouses have raised more than $4,000 toward building Habitat homes.

The bird houses are for sale at our ReStores in Grimsby (185 South Service Rd.) and St. Catharines (150 Bunting Rd.) for $5 each.

They are unfinished and can be painted or decorated any way you’d like – and make a great Father’s Day gift from the kids!
