There are so many ways to volunteer!
Volunteers are integral to the success of Habitat for Humanity Niagara. We offer a variety of diverse volunteer opportunities that will fit with many different schedules and skill levels.
If you have experience in flooring, trim, framing, painting and minor repairs and are available weekdays during the daytime, we're looking for you! Our Build Volunteers help fill the gaps before and in between our Adopt a Buld Days and assist our Construction Manager. Build sites are all across the Niagara region. This is not a one-time volunteer opportunity, it is ongoing.
Restore Volunteer (St. Catharines, Fonthill - *NEW Grimsby - opening soon!*)
Join our teams at the ReStore! Our ReStore volunteers assist with a number of different tasks including preparing donated materials for resale, sorting and pricing merchandise, product repair and cleaning, customer service, organizing and stocking shelves. To volunteer in the St. Catharines or Fonthill ReStore you must be willing to help, be friendly and customer-service oriented. This is not a one-time volunteer opportunity, it is ongoing.
Handy with a hammer? The Salvage Team may be a perfect fit for you! Help remove kitchens, bathrooms, doors, windows and other sellable items from homes that are being renovated. These items are then brought to the ReStore for resale. Home renovation experience is an asset, but not required. This is not a one-time volunteer opportunity, it is ongoing.
Event volunteers help to ensure the success of the many events that Habitat Niagara is involved with during the year. Each event is different and the volunteer opportunities will vary. Some ways that event volunteers lend a hand are at a registration table, being a Habitat ambassador at information fairs, serving and cooking food, setting up at events and much more.
Office volunteers help to keep our administrative costs low and bring a wealth of skills and experience to our organization. Habitat Niagara has many volunteer opportunities for students, professionals and retirees in our Fund Development, Communications, Family Services, Finance and Volunteer Services departments. Duties will vary, depending on our current requirements. Office Volunteers are required to possess computer skills and be able to commit to at least one weekly four-hour shift for a minimum of three months.
The Habitat for Humanity Canada Global Village Program lets you travel abroad while building a home for a family in need of safe, decent and affordable housing. Trips are scheduled throughout the year to countries like Kenya, India, Thailand, Romania, El Salvador and Costa Rica. Find out more on the Global Village website.
