Future Habitat homeowners learn how to successfully manage their home

Future Habitat homeowners work to build their home alongside our community partners, but they also take steps that will help ensure their long-term success once they are in their home.

One example is participation in our home buyer education workshops.

These workshops include a variety of information from learning about our homeownership program to maintaining your home, here are some of the workshops we teach that our future homeowners attend: Partnership and Media Relations, Financial Foundations (budgeting, managing money, preparing, planning and saving for major expenses of a house, etc.), Buying and Funding Your Home (what’s involved in a mortgage contract, amortization, property taxes, legal fees), Protecting your Home & Family (insurance) and Maintaining your Home.

Owing a home is a big commitment, we want to ensure our future homeowners are well prepared for the rewards and challenges it takes to own and properly maintain their home for years to come.
