This month we welcomed ten youth to the Habitat Niagara team through the Canada Summer Jobs program. These individuals will be working at our ReStores in Fonthill, Grimsby and St.Catharines doing work in the warehouse, merchandising, customer service and assist on the ReStore truck. We also have one youth who is helping to lead our kitchen salvage program.
The Canada Summer Jobs program is an initiative of the youth Employment Strategy, that provides wage subsidies to employers from non-for-profit organizations, the public-sector, and private sector organizations with 50 or fever full-time employees, to create quality summer work experiences for young people ages 15 to 30 years.
“This program is a great opportunity for youth to develop and improve their skills,” said mark Carl, Habitat Niagara CEO. "These summer work experiences are important future transitions to the workforce and improve access to the labour market for youth."
