As we prepare to reopen

May 20, 2020

Last week, our Premier announced the businesses that have been given permission to reopen as part of stage one to reopen our province, and I’d like to share with you what we have been working on.

As Ontario begins to cautiously reopen the economy, Habitat for Humanity Niagara is actively monitoring the government’s advice in order to make the right decision for our organization as the safety of our employees, volunteers and customers is paramount.

We are targeting sometime in June to reopen. In the meantime, we are putting plans in place to slowly and safely reopen our organization by:

  • Developing a comprehensive plan to reopen our ReStores;
  • Working to create an online ReStore presence to better serve our customers, and;
  • Working alongside our Niagara Peninsula Aboriginal Area Management Board (NPAAMB) partners to devise a plan to restart construction at our build site.

If you have been out shopping for groceries you have experienced how things in retail have changed. As you may suspect there is a “new normal” in our society and Habitat Niagara is working to implement these new policies and procedures in our organization in order for us to safely and carefully reopen.

It is a big task, and we are determined to reopen our doors to serve our community and continue to make a difference in Niagara.

Although we are excited to reopen, we ask for your patience as we need to ensure that we are doing so in the safest way possible for everyone . . . and this is going to take some time.

Stay tuned for more details as to the actual date we will reopen, and be sure to follow our social media channels for frequent updates.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
