Jason Druker's Habitat Journey Across Canada

"I was infected with 'Habititus' while building a Habitat home in Cluj, Romania."
My name is Jason Druker and I was born in Dublin, Republic of Ireland, but moved to Britain about 4 years ago to pursue a career as a solicitor. This journey led me to my present situation, as a trainee solicitor with Addleshaw Goddard LLP, a large law firm in London, UK. I am due to start my job with the firm in March 2010. As part of Addleshaw Goddard's commitment to corporate social responsibility I and 40 other trainees from the firm recently completed a week of Habitat building in Cluj, Romania. I found the experience utterly enlightening. I was transformed by it. The work was hard, the sun beat down on us, but with a collective spirit and effort I think we may have made a difference.
Before I start my job in the Spring, I am travelling the width of Canada, from Niagara to Toronto, as far East as Quebec City and then all the way across to Vancouver. It is my goal to try and participate in a Habitat build or project in each of the provinces I visit.

Niagara Association of REALTORS were the primary sponsor for this year's Ride-4-Habitat held on September 13, 2009.
This was a non-competitive and family bicycling event to raise awareness and funds in support of Habitat for Humanity Niagara. Five cycling enthusiasts pedaled the entire "Greater Niagara Cycling Route" of 148km. Two riders drove their motorcycles around the loop to support the cause.
Youngest rider Abbie Gowans (aged 10) and her dad began their ride in Waiverly Beach in Fort Erie. "I'm riding to help raise money for families who don't have a nice, warm place to live of their own. I raised $510 and rode 26.5km." said Abbie.
Top fundraisers were David Adams of St. Catharines, Wayne and Marcia deJong of Hamilton, Terry Petkau of Waterloo, Jonathan Fast of Niagara-on-the-Lake.
This small, dedicated group of 22 riders raised almost $18,000! We thank the Association and riders for all their support and hope to see them all again next year!
