Home #30 - 2010 St. Catharines, DSBN Build

In September 2009, Habitat house #30 officially broke ground at the corner of Merritt Street and Birch Lane. The land was purchased by Habitat Niagara from the City of St. Catharines back in October 2008. Mayor McMullan, city council and staff advocated for the affordable housing opportunity, and thus the City of St.Catharines became early partners in this project.

The Rotary Club of St. Catharines was the first to adopt this home, and thanks to the Merritton Community Group, this was followed by donations from the Merritton Lions and Lioness Clubs. Niagara Regional Housing (NRH) provided downpayment assistance for the family through Welcome Home Niagara, which is funded by the Canada-Ontario Affordable Housing Program.

Twenty District School Board of Niagara Specialist High Skills Major Construction students from nine area high schools built this home to EnergyStar standards. This home was completed in early February 2010.

Thank you to all of our National and Local donors. Click to see list.
